Frequently Asked Questions
1. Which causes are you championing?
We are in the business of creating a more sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous world, focusing primarily on telling Southeast Asian stories. As an easy framework, any of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals as defined by the UN are topics we want to champion.
2. What makes your studio unique?
We nurture a network of hundreds of Makers, pre-selected for their skills, and interviewed on the kind of impact they want to make, and the causes they want to champion.
We work with brands that want to make an impact but don’t know where to find creatives passionate about their cause.
In a way, we are a bridge between them.
3. What happens when we contact you about a project?
Once a project comes our way, we handpick a team made of people in our network that we know are passionate about the topic. As simple as it sounds, it is our belief that people who care about something do a better job at it. So far, the market shows there’s a need for this: makers find meaning in working on causes that are important for them, and clients love working with people who understand the stakes. And the quality in matchmaking shows in the work.
4. Why animation over another medium like Live Action?
With ROUGE Collective, we tackle topics that are not always easy to discuss or capture with a camera. Some of them are uncomfortable. Animation is able to accomplish what old-school techniques can’t — namely, to hit emotional notes that live-action is sometimes inadequate to convey.
Animation is also a medium that reaches wide audiences, including kids.
5. What kind of animation do you do?
We have a soft spot for 2D animation but our roster of artists bring their unique visual and narrative styles to craft your stories to life. We’ll propose a style that matches with what you want to create.
Visual Storytelling takes multiple forms! - Illustration, Motion Graphics, 2d/3d animation, Interactive installations, Immersive Web, Gaming.
6. How do you price your work?
Typically, we start off a budget that our client set aside for the project. That allows us to outline how far we can go in telling their story. Because we shed off layers of pricey overheads, we know that the dollar invested in a ROUGE project stretches a little further than in other places.
Why don’t you tell us what you want to make HERE and we’ll start that conversation?
